Russell Brand: comedy activist takes on corporate power in the City of London

In this week’s clip from the Shoeburyness skip Russell goes out onto the streets of Spitalfields, East London to demonstrate how corporations are destroying community spirit. This is a real rare gem, the tape box is dated December 02 – before Brand was a household name. Here he comes across like a lithe┬áhumorous Naomi Klein, using comedy to reveal the soulness nature of the corporatisation of our community spaces. In a sane world this would be a free DVD given away with every copy of ‘No Logo’ and Monbiot’s ‘Age of Consent’.

I think he achieved his aim a lot better in this clip. You could clearly see the contrast between corporate and community.
